HAWAI'I

• We found our $550 r/t tickets to Hawai'i on Google Flights, with United Airlines on the way to Kaua'i's airport, Lihue (via Denver) and with Hawaiian Airlines from Maui to Las Vegas and JetBlue from Las Vegas to Jfk. Even if there is a direct flight from New York to Honolulu, I liked that we split the long 11 hour flight with two flights and a layover pretty much in the middle, and that we flew directly to and from the islands where we were staying, instead of having to pass from busy Oahu (where Honolulu is).
• It's very easy (and cheap!) to fly from and island to the other: we bought our 35-minute flight from Kaua'i and Maui on Southwest, but there are many other options!

Fining an Accommodation

We rented our cars in Kaua'i and Maui via our Chase reward points, but we had a very good experience in both airports, where there the service is efficient and quick. Being part of the US, the islands are not very much public transportation friendly and you can't do much around if you don't have a car. But roads are in general very well maintained and easy to drive on.
